Support for Prisoners

Irish prisoners overseas face significant difficulties, including dealing with an unfamiliar legal system, discrimination and language barriers. Many experience extreme isolation and some prisoners have limited access to basic necessities, such as food, water and medical treatment. In some jurisdictions prison conditions and safety are also a major cause of concern.

The ICPO provides a wide range of services to prisoners and their families. We are primarily focused on casework and provide information and support to Irish prisoners overseas on a wide range of issues, including repatriation, deportation, health and legal matters, discrimination, ill-treatment and access to post-release support and accommodation.

If you or someone who know has been arrested, charged or imprisoned overseas please contact us on +353 1 5053156 or at icpo@iecon.ie for advice and support.
